Eligibility for the Submission of a Thesis/Dissertation |
·Students who have passed the qualifying exam for their thesis/dissertation (comprehensive and language exams) and have received a recommendation by their academic advisor and the Head of the Department are eligible to submit a thesis/dissertation. (Note that students must have already completed the minimum number of credits required for graduation) · Master’s and doctoral candidates must give an oral presentation of their thesis/dissertation proposal to the Head of the Department or Head Professor six months prior to the thesis/dissertation deadline, followed by an additional oral presentation two weeks prior to the deadline. |
Request for Thesis/Dissertation Examination and Submission |
· Master’s and doctoral candidates must submit the following documents to their department:request for thesis/dissertation examination, original thesis/dissertation, examination fees, curriculum vitae (for doctoral candidates only) · Thesis/dissertations must be written and printed on vellum paper (19x26cm) in accordance with the guidelines for thesis/dissertation writing (see Appendix No. 28 for sample format) and bound in proper forms. (Writing styles must follow the guidelines set forth by each department) · Candidates must submit a draft of their thesis for review at the department office any time before the official deadline. · The academic advisor must check the format and binding of the thesis/dissertation before giving his/her formal recommendation. · Examination request forms and curriculum vitae (for doctoral students only) are available at each department office. · Students who have had a change in their academic advisors may submit their thesis/dissertation onlyafter studying with their new advisor for more than one semester. |
Appointment of Thesis/Dissertation Examination Committee Members |
· The Head of the Department (or the Head Professor) may nominate examiners for each thesis/dissertation. The college must then collect these recommendations and send them to the Dean.

Appointment of Examiners and Request for Thesis/Dissertation Examination |
· The Graduate Head appoints a nominated examiner. · Each examiner is responsible for the completion of the examination the moment he/she is appointed. · Each examiner will be sent a copy of the student’s thesis/dissertation. |
Thesis/Dissertation Presentation and Subsequent Examination |
· The thesis/dissertation presentation and examination will take place in accordance with the examination guidelines. |
Thesis/Dissertation Assessment, and Submission of Approved Final Thesis/Dissertation, and Final Assessment |
· Each department must submit thesis/dissertation assessments (including assessment summaries) and a copy of the approved final thesis/dissertation to the college. The college must then collect all assessments and submit them to the Office of Educational Affairs. - Forms and documents required for submission include: table of thesis/dissertation assessments, a copy of the thesis/dissertation title page, and a copy of the approval form -The thesis/dissertation title registered on the PIP should be the same as the title of the approved final thesis/dissertation. |
Submission of Final Thesis/Dissertation |
· The approved final thesis/dissertation must be submitted in accordance with the following guidelines. ·Hard copies of thesis/dissertation -Due date : To be decided in accordance with the examination guidelines set forth by the Office of Educational Affairs -Place of submission : Lobby on the ground floor of Library 1 (research library) -Number of copies: 4 copies for a thesis (students of law: 3 copies, and approval by examiners is not required) and 4 copies for a dissertation (students of law: 5 copies, and approval by examiners is not required) ※ Dissertations must be bound using black hardcover cross binding ㆍElectronic Copy -Due date : To be decided in accordance with the examination guidelines set forth by the Office of Educational Affairs -How to submit : Submit a copy online via the library website ( http://pulip.pusan.ac.kr ). If a copy cannot be submitted online, students must submit a CD with a saved copy of the thesis/dissertation along with a printed copy. ※ The electronic copy must be exactly the same as the printed copy, from cover to abstract. |
Final Examination By Graduate Committee |
ㆍA Graduate Committee will be convened to conduct the final examination of the thesis/dissertation. |
Announcement of Thesis/Dissertation Approval |
ㆍDoctorates earned in accordance with Article 60 of the University Administration Regulations will be announced within a year to the date of the receipt of the corresponding degree from the Minister of Education. |
