Since its foundation on August 17, 1953, the Graduate School of Pusan National University has attracted students committed to academic excellence and animated by the desire to become future leaders. As of 2021, there are students enrolled in the general graduate school, four professional graduate schools, and eight specialized graduate schools. The Graduate School of Pusan National University started its difficult journey in the dire circumstances right after the civil war with an undiluted passion for true knowledge. Our alumni are leaders in all walks of life, striving for innovative development of the Republic of Korea as scholars and citizens.
The Graduate School of Pusan National University offers a wealth of interesting academic disciplines: The Graduate School of Pusan National University offers a broad range of academic disciplines—the humanities discipline with subjects that seek to inculcate a strong sense of value and a well-developed worldview by exploring the roots of universal human existence; the social sciences committed to solving compelling issues facing Korean society; the natural sciences that attempt to uncover hidden rules of nature through close observation; and engineering, that makes our daily lives more convenient and comfortable by applying the revealed laws of nature. All the programs will meet your expectations through in-depth theory and hands-on practical education. We have trained outstanding talents capable of greatly contributing to local communities and the state and are doubling our efforts to implement a world-class academic system. To keep abreast of rapid S&T advances worldwide, we are laying the groundwork for global competitions at the frontline of knowledge by broadening the pool of state-of-the-art research instruments and facilities. We are also jointly operating various programs with international scholars and universities with laboratories.
This splendid setting has been made possible by the work and achievements of many professors behind the scenes: As a result, we are fully funded by the government’s R&D budget, and our students have garnered the largest share of the Brain Korea (BK) 21 scholarship program for graduate students, successfully competing with all the national universities. Moreover, the Graduate School of Pusan National University has opened and is operating contract departments in various disciplines in order to strengthen its responsibilities toward local communities. Many students who work for local shipbuilding and machinery industries are working by day and learning by night, building their expertise and professionalism. We will now double our efforts to establish a scholarship system that will optimize our knowledge production.
