Incentives on publication of excellent postgraduate paper

- Enhancing the competitiveness of graduate students by encouraging them to publish their research papers in renowned national and international journals and motivating them to be more committed to high-quality research.
- Creating a research climate throughout the graduate school and inducing the qualitative improvement of research papers
- Eligibility for support : General Graduate School students (including graduates within two years of completion/graduation)
- Content of support : Financial incentives on the papers published in national and international journals within the period concerned, depending on the impact of the journal

- Calculation of the financial incentives
- A sole author shall receive the full amount of support per publication
- Each of the co-authors shall receive the amount equivalent to 1/n (n=number of authors)
- Multiple thesis submissions are allowed within the maximum limit of 2 million won per author
Graduate student research promotion and academic activity support project (University Innovation Support Project)
- Purpose of the project : To improve the quality of research outcomes for excellent PNU graduate students and to promote new students’ research efforts
- ligibility : Current students enrolled in the General Graduate School integrated master’s-Ph.D. programs (excluding contract departments and graduate students participating in BK21)
- Project specifications
- 1Support for thesis writing in English
- Support for English proofreading fees (using specialized companies) (up to 500,000 won per person subject to submission to English journals) - 2Research support for excellent graduate students (Humanities, Social Studies, Arts/Sports)
- Incentive payment of 2.5 million won per author when published in a registered journal (or higher status) - 3Support for graduate student academic exchanges
- Payment of one million won per team (3 or 4 members) for holding academic exchange symposiums and the like and submission of report.

Graduate school academic award (Ph.D. program) and excellent thesis award (master’s program)
- Project objectives : To foster research efforts in General Graduate School students who have carried out excellent research activities pursuant to the PNU Graduate School Academic Award Regulations and to contribute to improving the quality of their degree theses
- Eligibility for award candidates : Those recommended by the department head or chief profession for outstanding research performance during the related degree program among the students enrolled in the master’s or Ph.D. program of the General Graduate School (those who have obtained a degree in the latter half of the previous academic year or in the first half of the current year) or those who have already completed the program but have not obtained a degree
- Scope of award : 500,000 won per master and 1.5 million won per Ph.D. student
- Number of awardees : up to 17
Special lecture by eminent guest scholars (National University Promotion Project)
- Project objectives : To revitalize and disseminate academic zeal in the General Graduate School and establish the direction of research by encouraging guest lectures by renowned national and international scholars
- Support for guest lecturer honoraria (up to 2 hours) for special lectures by eminent scholars related to major program courses at the General Graduate School
PNU Talent Incubator Program (National University Promotion Project)
- Project objectives : To encourage excellent graduate students to continue their academic pursuits and improve research competitiveness by strengthening the foundation for basic protection studies and early discovery and support of excellent human resources
- Eligibility : Students enrolled in master’s and Ph.D. programs in the SAM sector
- Research period : September of the current year to February of the year after next (monthly pay of research scholarship and direct research expenditures)
- Outcomes : At the end of the research period, submission of the offprints of the paper published in national and international journals by the faculty
SAM Convergence Research Society Support Project (National University Promotion Project)
- Project objectives : To promote convergence-type research teams to revitalize interdisciplinary convergence research in the SAM sector and enhance research capabilities
- Eligibility : Current undergraduate or postgraduate students enrolled in SAM programs
- Target : Graduate students and undergraduate students in the SAM sector
- Details of support : 1.5 to 2 million won per team for research activities and research expenses
- Scope of support : 1.5 to 2 million won per project and team
[BK21 Graduate School Innovation] PNU Fellowship
- Project objective : To promote research activities and improve the quality of research performance by supporting stable research activities of graduate students participating in the BK21 FOUR Education Research Group.
- Eligibility : BK21 FOUR Education Research Group students enrolled in an integrated master’s-Ph.D. program (maintaining the student status until the completion of research)
- Scope of support : 5 million won per research project, supported as a research scholarship
[BK21 FOUR Project] Expansion of Research Support for BK21 Students
- Project objective : To improve the quality of research performance and foster research efforts by promoting the quality of research performance of BK21 member students and expanding international academic exchanges and human networks
- Eligibility : BK21 FOUR Education Research Group students enrolled in an integrated master’s-Ph.D. program
- Sub-projects
- 1Support for English proofreading fees for papers to be submitted to international academic symposiums
- Support for English proofreading fees (using specialized agencies) of up to 400,000 won per person, provided that the submission is in English
- One-time support per paper (No limit to the number of papers per person, no duplicate support for the same paper)
- 2Support of BK21 graduate students presenting at international conferences
- Support for oral presentation of papers at international conferences (support adjusted according to regional standards, up to 2 million won)
- 3BK21 Graduate Student Outstanding Paper Award
- Support for outstanding research performance of graduate students participating in BK21 FOUR
- Scope of award: 800,000 won per master, 1.5 million won per Ph.D.
- Number of awardees: Up to 72 (1 Ph.D. program student and 1 master’s program student per BK21 FOUR Education Research Group
