* Incubation of innovative talents as future leaders of the knowledge community: Cultivation of talents, trained with master’s and Ph.D. programs, who will fulfill the responsibilities of a regional university and promote innovative social changes.
** Fusion Innovation: Fusion means “to melt and blend” (融合), i.e., to combine the achievements of existing disciplines through cross-disciplinary cooperation. Innovation is “the creation of something new” (創新), which is based on the achievements of fusion. This composite word stems from bop-go-chang-shin (法古創新: creating new things by emulating old things) expounded by Park Ji-won, a late Joseon scholar.
